Have one in pearl white needs a bit of work rewiring(simple on these) etc but all there.

More than likely will need a cites certificate due to the ebony fingerboard.

Not prepared to go through all that rigmarole. So no shipping to the US.

If I remember correctly, guitars made before the CITES mudhole are exempt from the certification proceedings.  I think only some kind of data showing date of manufacture is recommended and don't apply to private transactions.

I'll see if I can dig the ruling up.

OK, I was only partially correct...

This is from the Taylor site:
For the vast majority of individual owners of guitars made with Dalbergia rosewood, the new CITES regulations won’t impact you. But if you were to buy or sell a guitar with Dalbergia rosewood internationally, the guitar would need proper CITES documentation for it to be sold legally. An example would be if you live in the U.S. and want to sell your rosewood Taylor 814ce to someone living in Canada. Before you could ship the guitar, you would need to apply for a re-export certificate from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, pay an application fee, wait to receive the certificate, and then include it with the guitar when you ship it. Also, at this time the guitar must be shipped through one of the “Designated Ports” with all pages of the permit so the shipment and permit can be inspected and validated/endorsed by properly credentialed Management Authority officials. Keep in mind that even if the guitar was produced before the regulations took effect (January 2, 2017), you still need a permit that identifies the guitar as “pre-Convention.” It’s recommended that prior to any international transaction you contact the CITES authorities in the destination country to confirm CITES import regulations, as they can differ country by country. Keep in mind that it could take a couple of months to receive the certificate, so given the time, expense and logistics, it will be easier to sell the guitar domestically.

Underling mine and most likely also pertains to ebony.

So far so good.....the streets are very quite indeed around our way.

My son works in a hospital organising the doctors rota for the A+E dept.

He's been at work through all this. Just hope he doesn't pick up this virus. 
He has his own place(won't bring it to us) so fingers crossed for him and all folks in the NHS they'er doing a sterling job under immense pressure.

I agree, to a point.  The stuff has been over-harvested and IS getting in short(end) supply.  Bureaucracy being what it is, it is MOST important to make everything as complicated as possible so that even versed attorney's can't make head or tails of it.

Does it apply for inter-EURO zone transport/sales?  I haven' been able to make sense of what I've found and I have a few fiddles in the UK on various platforms that I may try to get.

I do love the sculptured design of the Pantera, and that pearl white finish.

But I don't think I could be comfortable with the weight of these babies. Any idea what she weighs?

Ok, now I understand. I would be interested to know her weight as well.
I would imagine the poplar construction is why the Genesis needs so much gain. How do we know if one is made of Ash and does anyone have one?
I'm betting the Pantera does not need as much?

Chris, the only version that is Ash is the trans brown finish. The others are Poplar.

The Genesis has a unique electronic configuration than most of the other Westies and does offer up a different sound when compared say with our beloved MMK45's.

As primarily a rhythm player, I struggled quite a lot with the the tone at first, which struck me as rather thin. Clean, but somewhat lacking the expected fuller range.

It doesn't suit every player's requirements and most of the boyz here have EQ'd the output to get what they're after.

On the plus side it's a really comfortable guitar to play and it forces you out of your musical rut, which is always good.

Approx in the same range as a "traditional" Les Paul. Even so, I'll wager the Pantera is more comfortable on the strap.

Thanks for the info Barry. I'm fairly certain the odd Genesis tone is due to the poplar. I say this from my building experience. My main guitar (I built it in '14 and it is affectionately known as #4) was built with poplar and it is so much like my Genesis. My rig is setup for #4 and I can plug in my Genesis with very slight modification. If I plug in anything else, the first thing I have to do is back the gain considerably. 
I'd love to compare my Genesis against an ash body. I'm willing to bet the ash body does not share the tonal characteristics of the poplar body.

And, I'm gonna have to agree, that sculptured body is some kind of sexy. . .

Hmmmm. I sold my X390 to a guy in the States via ebay a while ago. He has one signed by Trevor Rabin, but wanted another to play on stage.
