Change Tone Control for a Warmth Control

Post by Barry on Sat Oct 06, 2018 2:13 pm

Here are 2 articles by German guitarist and guitar tinkerer, Dirk Wacker (seriously cool name) on the subject of Tone control mods.

Most of us are familiar with the treble bleed mod, but Wacker doesn't even go there. Instead he goes far beyond this and offers a few ideas you might want to try, particularly if you typically don't use the Tone much, or find it chokes your sound.

Some great insights and practical solutions.

Part I : Dialing in the Passive Tone Control

Part II : Swap That Tone Knob for a Warmth Control

p.s. He also has a terrific web site full of all kinds of interesting mods: SingleCoil
