3D Printers

Post by xbarnesx on Thu Jun 14, 2018 4:53 am

A colleague has bought a very decently specced 3D printer
We were chatting and he mentioned that he had seen 3D printed guitars, I had a google and theres quite a bit out there

Obviously the acoustic properties would be worlds apart from wood but I thought it could be a good (and cheap) oppurtunity to get a physical look at original designs and see how whether they worked

Anyone had any exposure to this technology?

That's new one on me. Thinking

However, we did have a member who had a go at reproducing the switch master knobs using 3D print technology. Turned out reasonably well IIRC considering a lack of drawings, original specs, etc.

of course if you had a 3d printer that worked with metal, they are out there but not at a hobby/home pricemark you could make prestige tailpieces

And wouldn't that solve a whole lot of parts problems!

its just a matter of time
as I said the technology exists, it is very expensive however
but 15 years ago that was the case with plastic 3d printers
