Vintage Guitar Magazine - Westone feature

Post by drsyn67 on Wed Mar 21, 2018 7:15 pm

May 2018 Vintage Guitar magazine. Three page article on the 1986 X350 featuring the usual commons references and ads (probably from Ebay)

Don't know what they're talking about there!

350MA has a 4 piece body.

Never seen a 'G' serial number neither. Probably an 8 with a bad stamp.

(Thanks for the link Chad Wink  )

...the pickups are SLM's American-made Magnaflux humbuckers - sweet and powerful
Huh?
...it is a rare and elegant work of art.
Thumb Up

I dunno... this bloke has pretty much just re-hashed info that's already available and told us nothing new and, in fact, as Damian and Barry have pointed out, perhaps got his facts wrong.
It smacks a little to me of what we used to call in the publishing industry, a puff piece; that is, a piece that has no real substance, yet appears to be authoritative?!
All that aside, however, it IS nice to see Westone mentioned!!

Damian - if you have the only other 45 made, I'll be one-pissed-'merican-Anglican.  May have to institute confession into our church if you're holding out on us.

Very Happy Thanks Damian, one of your three "Hail Mary's" I believe....

So long story short, a very generous and kind Mr Bone, was dropping an amp off at my place and when unloading the car, there was an extra hard case in the boot which he brought in ???

When I was offered the opportunity to open the case, low and behold, in all it's glory was an illusive Westone Holy Grail, the X350. I was blown away that Damian had gone to the effort of bringing it up for me to see first hand and have to say, after only a minute or so of noodling, why their reputation is so justly deserved. The thought gone into the ergonomics of the guitar is outstanding, the quality of the chosen woods just perfect and the build quality was of the highest level. Quite simply probably one of the best guitars I have ever had the pleasure of playing.

After boring the life out of Damian for a couple of hours with my collection, the 350 went back into the case and disappeared into the memory bank, but thank you again Damian, it was a complete pleasure Very Happy
