Dynasty Bass Pickup Problem;( Empty Dynasty Bass Pickup Problem;(

Post by Schmokko Thu Sep 17, 2015 4:40 pm

hi, i just got an Dynasty-Bass from `84. He is very "silent", my other (active)bass is extremely loud on my marshall-stack, but the Dynasty is so...cute? and there are disturbing ...noises, sorry about my english.... I took a look under the bridge, this cable is ok. If i touch the bridge its silent. Where is the volume of the bass? cant be so low?

More than likely one dead coil in the pickup.
These pickups are prone to it.

Is it wired right?

One Red wire was disconnected from a coil, is it ok just to get it back under the tape of the coil?

Has to be connected to the coil wire beginning or end of the winding.

If your lucky it's at the end of the winding.

If all else fails try this.

Done so... resold all connections of the potis, fixed the ground to the bridge, 2 cables found a better place , and now the wiring is really as it is on the diagram..... The humming is a little bit lower but still there, bass  output still  fudge poop:) I took my wireless Sytem... Humming was away! but the output...this beast can´t be so silent and thin.... i really think i killed the Pickup while restauration..

So i could take a cheap musicmanstyle replacement pickup, and can glue it Into the original pickupcap? What is the effect When the Tone or the Volumepots or the condensator are damaged? Silence? Humming?

or could it be that  the black wires that connect the coils together , have to be connected to the ground too?! i found no pictures from the connection to the pickup itself

Ignore the Thoman site. The wires are different.

Didn't you take a note or photo when taking apart?

1 wire, the beginning of the first coil can be grounded.

They're in series.

You mentioned the pickup was working in the first place prior to taking apart.
