dynasty - DYNASTY LOCK NUT ?!?! Empty DYNASTY LOCK NUT ?!?!

Post by Shane P Fri Mar 20, 2015 10:43 am

I"M BACK FROM THE FUTURE - And pissed off, apparently my Locking nut on my main dynasty decided to go off the rails and a screw hole is now stripped. WHICH IS INSANE, because I felt absolutely NO resistance when I did strip it... But hey, could be worse. Throwing it out there to see if anyone by any chance has a replacement. If not, anyone have any solid advice to rethread a hole this small and precise? I know how to rethread others, but this may require the hands of a skilled professional...

Any Help would be as Rad as that time I found Reebok Pumps intact at a Good Will Store.

I've not had to do it myself on a locking nut, but a heli-coil is probably the way to go, and not really very difficult. I'm sure Westobone has done a few, and there is bound to be a post on the forum to tell you how to do it...

HAHA yeah I just just found this!!! THANKS MAN!!!
This is awesome stuff, hopefully I don't blow it! Y'know... I have like 7-8 Locking Nuts from ALL the other extra FLoyds I have, Has anyone ever(or known anyone) to just replace it fully? I mean, behind the original nut... I'm hedging my bets, the left most thread is also a bit loose, thinking it's also ready to crap out...

           Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I have a pantera X300 with a standard floyd rose type string lock replacement and while the attaching screw holes don't quite line up, it works absolutely fine.
Saying that by far the better solution is to go with the heli coil kit,  they're cheap and so easy to use, I've done 3 now and  never had an issue.
I do recommend using a thread lock glue to secure the coil though.

If you send me those Pumps... I'll send you a behind the nut lock.

And not the wrestling move, either.

Shane, when you were in the future, did you see your Dynasty?  If you did, you would have noticed that it no longer has the original behind the nut lock.  No, it has a proper locking nut, now.  As it should've had all along...  So cooperate and get back to the future.
