New one.... again!!
The Vantage X-99, gentlemen... not Matsumoku, probably Chushin-gakki and only needed knobs, bar and a jolly good cleaning!
Neckthrough and, like all Avengers, very light. Trying hard to bond with it at the moment... whether the matte black is putting me off, I don't know??
The pickups are not Maxons and are a little character-less, and not as punchy as MMK 45s...
... and you blokes thought Bendmaster bridges were orphans!!

Re: New one.... again!!
From the pix the matte black doesn't look half bad John. I think it's the grotty black hardware that's making it look tired. I wonder how she'd look with some coverless 'buckers (zebra's?) and something fresher looking in the bridge.

Dunno, Barry; I like the black hardware - it's all cleaned or newly painted - and the overall stealth, blacked-out approach, to whit my Spectrum LX, but I'm sure the matte black is affecting the way I view it because it seems to handle very well indeed!!
Stupid, eh?!

Re: New one.... again!!
Not really.
I get the same uneasy feeling playing a maple fretboard (not as bad now, getting better). I really prefer rosewood/ebony eh? Just doesn't feel right most times, ya know?

Re: New one.... again!!
True enough! Anyway, who the hell said we had to be rational about this sort of thing?!
Another thought just cropped up; is the rationale for neckthru - that the strings are attached to the same lump of wood - negated here because of the tremelo rout?!

Re: New one.... again!!
Hmm, I would think so..if ya wanna be all anal about it.
Is this an actual neck-thru or set? Outstanding value if it is.

You won't get picked up by radar....
Simple but solid looking trem.
Are the mini switches just coil taps or phase ? 2 or 3 way?

Re: New one.... again!!
The minis are series/parallel/coil split for each pickup, and yes; it is neck through - there is a catalogue showing it over at Matt.org.
Odd wee trem; those stupid bloody fine tuners are murder on your fingertips as they're quite thin where you twiddle 'em!
