For Sale Thinking About Unloading my X390s

Probably one.
Maybe both.

Here are the pictures.

They are great guitars, but:
1) The PW has an electronics problem that it only outputs about 1% of the sound it should.  I have no idea where the problem is.  I don't want to rewire the whole harness to find/fix the problem.  I don't want to spend $50 or $100 to have someone else fix it.  So it sits in my collection, unplayed.  Also, repaired break in the headstock, but appears completely stable.
2) The CB has a Bendmaster
3) I prefer the strat sounds possible from an HSS configuration.  Splitting an H/H configuration just isn't the same.
4) So at this point, I actually prefer playing my Pantera X300 CR than the X390 CB.

Then again, the CB is rare and an extremely beautiful color I've seen on no other guitar.

One thing that will factor into my decision is how much I can get for them.

So does anyone want to make any offers before I put one or both on eBay?  This is your best chance to get one for a decent price without having to fight other eBayers for it.

You are NOT getting the CR back.
I love it too much.

But if I ever do decide to sell it, you have first shot at it.

Gee, that's a shame, but yeah; you gotta follow your heart!

Why does the CB have a string bar behind the string lock, and the PW not?!

I think the CB's string bar was aftermarket, added by an owner at some point.

Yep, same as the nut and locking nut.

Those particular locking nuts are a different string spacing to Westone originals so they changed the nut too. Should be black/graphite.

The market is very soft on these right now.  I think it's a good time to keep them.

I don't much care for the tone of these guitars with their stock electronics.  They sound fine through modelers, but through tube amps - not great.  And no doubt the coil split is not very convincing - the humbuckers are not hot enough for this to sound convincing.  The only decent (not great) sound that I can get from the stock pickup split is in the middle position with the phase switch up too.  It's OK.

I have a CB with a repaired headstock that I put CTS 500k pots, an orange drop cap, and Dimarzio tone zone and fred pickups in - and that guitar sounds pretty good.  I had set it up for a specific song with a weird tuning but have stopped playing that song live so I have returned the guitar to stock.  And the motivation for changing the electronics was that the stock neck pickup had an open coil.  I'd like to sell it - but with its repaired headstock it's not worth much.

I had an X300CR that was a great guitar and the neck was just killer.  The single coils sounded pretty good and I put a SD George Lynch/Screamin' Demon pickup in the bridge as the stock pickup had an open coil.  Lynch requested these pickups for his maple bodied guitars and the X300 has a maple body.  This pickup is just a slightly tweaked PAF type sound - it is not hot at all so the name is a bit of a misnomer.

So that's 2 different kinds of MMK pickups that I have received with an open coil.  Actually 3 I think.  So I robbed the good coil from the X300 pickup and replaced the dead coil in the X390 pickkup.  The output is a little high but it sounds convincing enough - and now all of the electronics work.

The switches and pots in these guitars are nothing special either which may contribute to the tone.

So I endorse Dimarzio Tone Zone and Seymour Duncan George Lynch/Screamin' Demon pickups as suitable replacements in the X300 and X390 - and really a big upgrade in tone.

Wow, great advice!

At this point, I'm leaning to holding on to the CB just because of the color and rarity.

But I am selling the PW.

It has the broken/repaired headstock, as shown.

The price is $500 + actual shipping costs.  Includes a case.  I think it is a Westone case, but let me check to be sure.
