Schaller Floyd for my Dynasty...
Alright, got a second Dynasty to mod and gig with (thanks Steve).
I really dislike the Bendmaster FT, looks ridiculous and is non locking as we all know.
I read the posts about installing a replacement floyd style bridge, including various floyd intonation issues and the replacement from Gutiar Fetish.
Really like the look and reviews of the Schaller Floyd Rose copy CLICKY HERE!. I want to use this Schaller.
It's compact and has great reviews. Rather have a Kahler Steeler, but post spacing is off for my Dynasty so I'll settle for the Schaller for now.
So wanting to ensure a proper fit, I did my research first. I printed and properly sized the technical drawing of the Schaller (as found on the website) to make it lifesize accurate. I measured everything on my existing Dynasty, compared the measurements on the print out of the Schaller, and it looks like it will intonate just fine. Check this out, see if I'm missing something...
Below: Distance from knife edge to back-most saddle (furthest out saddle). Just under 1cm.
Below: Same distance marked on the print out. Just under 1cm.
Below: Cut out of Schaller saddle positioned where it would need to be. Looks like it will work...
Below: Distance marked on cut out for the front-most saddle (furthest in) on the Dynasty, with cut out of Schaller saddle matching it. Again, looks like it will work...
See what I mean? Looks like the Schaller floyd will work effortlessly, it seems to work on paper (famous last words, I know ). And yes, the print out does sizing does match the millimeter ruler, so it's right on. As long as the technical specs print out is correct, that is.
But seriously, am I missing something here? According to all of this, it should fit right on and intonate properly as well. Which is not the findings of others on this forum. This is why I ask.
And stud spacing on the Dynasty seems to be 74mm and a hair, same as the Schaller which is 74.3mm.
Help me out guys, tell me I'm wrong! Or right.

Re: Schaller Floyd for my Dynasty...
Here's an alternative. Not locking but solid.

Can't wait to see how this all shakes out, Chad. Looking forward to seeing some action shots in the future as well.
Re: Schaller Floyd for my Dynasty...
Alright, still researching and searching my options. Found a few that will fit the stud spacing. Intonation should work with a couple of them.
My main concern is clearance during a pull up on the bar, as some trems with long shafts will hit the top of my Dynasty. The Schaller is great for this, as the posts are intentionally short for this reason. And Schaller made trems for several companies, like Gibson, Hamer, Jackson, Charvel, Floyd, etc. So this style trem is more readily available.
Almost bought a Jackson stamped Schaller but it had a 32mm block, I need a 44mm block and don't want to incur expense buying a trem AND a block.
I'll let you all know how this turns out.
Oh, and I will eventually add a locking nut. Thinking about changing the bridge pup to something with higher output and more dynamics as well.

Re: Schaller Floyd for my Dynasty...
Sorry to bump this older thread, but how did your Tremolo situation turn out, The Chad? I'm looking for a Tremolo to replace my Bendmaster FT in my Dynasty, and your choices have me intrigued. Again, sorry for the bump, I am just wondering.

Re: Schaller Floyd for my Dynasty...
I used a Gotoh and it works absolutely great. See my thread on it here... CLICK HERE
The Gotoh was the best price through Mojo Tone. Check it out here... CLICKETH HERE
I use the Dynasty a lot, works, feels, and sounds fantastic. This worked for my particular Dynasty, however yours may be slightly different, I don't know.
