Matusumoku at its best, Electra X930
Some of us are on the Electra forums so we know a lot about Electra's. I
share this for those of you who know and for those of you who don't YET know.
This is a 1982 X930. Check out this model over in the Electra forums. I have to share about this guitar, it really amazes me. It's an MPC, so it has modules that fit into the back of it. I have an overdrive and a phase shifter module in it now, both of which are very useable effects that sound great. This particular guitar was a closet queen, almost in perfect condition (the poor thing was barely ever played). It also has the Electra Supercharger kit installed. The rotary switch does both pups in series, neck pup only, both pups in parallel, bridge pup only, and both pups out of phase. The two toggles are to turn on/off each effect module. The top two knobs are volume and tone. The bottom two knobs are effect level for each effect. I need to clean it and take the dot stickers off. The quality of this instrument is superb, from the brass sustain block to the flawless neck. It also has the scooped heel as later was used on our Westones. Feels and sounds absolutely top notch. Can't wait to get it on stage somewhere.
This level of craftsmanship was later found in the Westone Prestige (haven't played a Prestige, but I'll bet it's the same caliber). Electra did several instruments on this high level. The X935 is another one, which I already have posted on here.
You may not be able to find a Prestige, but you may be able to find one of these high end Electra's. They're worth it. They're a safe investment as well.

Re: Matusumoku at its best, Electra X930
Never said it was the best, I said "at its best", not "its best". They made a bunch of really nice ones, and this is just one of them!
Makes me think, what makes for the "best" in a guitar? Fit, finish, feel, and sound perhaps?
And Ice, the X940 is just an MPC version of the X935, right? This X940 sounds better than my X935, I'd like to play a 940 and see how different it is.

That's one sweet guitar! And 12 module options to choose from...
It oozes blues.

You might be surprised at how similarly an x940 and an x930 would play to each other Chad.
Like my good old dad used to tell me all the time....
"Why don't you look it up, son? That way you will learn more than if I just told you, plus it may even build a little character."

Oh yeah, being a guitar geek I'd already had those memorized too! Someone said that the 940 had the solid top and a different neck, just like the X935 but MPC'd? That's why I'd like to play them both. And hear them both! Electra/Westone fest will be a good time for that, eh?!
And your Dad was wise, it's a give a man a fish vs. teaching them how to fish!

Re: Matusumoku at its best, Electra X930
x930 - x950 should be virtually the same with exception to the color / finish...
Re: Matusumoku at its best, Electra X930
Well the 930 is the only one I do not have so if anyone wants to compare them feel free to stop in and try them out against my others. I am pondering the idea of sponsoring and hosting an joint Electra/Westone event this year in the spring or early summer here at my home in Georgia. All members are welcome to stop in if they are ever down this way and enjoy some fun and music.
I know we have several dual members both here and the Electra forums and that is why I am interested in hosting a joint event not to mention we would have the best of both worlds to enjoy. I would expect at least 120+ guitars and Basses available to try and check out. I have many Westones as well as Electra/Westone, and electra models. Is there any interest here in a joint fest this year? If so I will begin a new thread here and pursue it in both forums. I think it would be fun for all to see the entire lineage of SLM and our beloved models all in one place. Thanks Arthur

Thats a beauty Chad! Love the grains on that one.
A joint fest would be awesome, i'm out on the left coast but i'd love to see pics/video of it.

That can be done as we have had live feed via the internet at all but the first Electrafest events. I have high speed cable modem and wireless net so that is not a problem. I will open a new thread concerning this event. Thanks Arthur

Re: Matusumoku at its best, Electra X930
Count me in on the Fest. I'm fortunate that I only live a few hours from Arthur. Hope more of our talent pool can show up for this. If anyone wants to fly down to Jacksonville (FL), I'll drive us over to the Fest. Mortarman's collection is like the Louvre of Matsumoku.
Re: Matusumoku at its best, Electra X930
Well since we are getting interest it seems now we must start thinking of an appropriate date. Any suggestions? I would recommend late spring or early summer somewhere between March and July.
