Yo, Barry... your breakfast is served
My wife was feeling sorta bad for ya' so thanks to your "influence" this morning's main course is served...
A parritch of oat bran, lovingly simmered and then introduced to raisins (and craisins! ) and wheat germ gently steamed on top. A palmful of toasted coconut shavings for texture and Bob's yer uncl'.
Of course I didn't go down without a fight. A moat of half & half and a generous coating of brown sugar there too.
And...
Homecured and hand cut rasher of canadian bacon. If we just had a "smellovision" function for this forum now...

Re: Yo, Barry... your breakfast is served
Looks good! Thanks.
I just did my August average blood pressure calc and I'm troubled to say, my systolic is up over the past 4 months by about 6 points on the left and 4 on the right. Not cause for great alarm but it does reverse a downward trend.
I do confess I have been getting a bit lax with my sodium vigilance this summer plus I had a nasty fall at the shop on a (very thinly carpeted) concrete floor which hurt my left wrist. That caused a few problems with both my circulation and my guitar playin'.
So, I gotta start lovin' me some more oatmeal...and pass on the bacon.

gotta love the porridge!, my missus is a pure bona fidey Scot and makes the finest porridge ever, jumbo oats, full fat milk, teaspoon of heather honey! I start my day like a hairy arsed highlander every morning!

Anyone up for a mixed grill. Bacon, lamb chops, beef sausages, eggs and grilled tomato + some lightly grilled banana. Add a couple slices of thick cut toast and you've got it made.

Been craving a good ol' fry up lately. But my supposedly British Wife says she can't get the right ingredients here in the States... excuses, excuses. Eggs, beans, pudding, fried bread, those amazing little sausages, rashers. Mmmm.

Re: Yo, Barry... your breakfast is served
I spent a good chunk of my life woofing down righteously good fry ups. Even followed in the footsteps (for awhile) of my dad and mom as they did the fried bread in bacon grease, et al.
Dad had a couple of miserable strokes as did all his 4 brothers and all eventually succumbed as a result of high cholesterol and high blood pressure. And of course I had my stoke last January.
Anyone see a cause and effect thing here?

I know! Trying to get that through to my Dad right now. I eat them very sparingly.

Frozen maybe, but deep fried? Not the least appealing.
I don't get the general obsession with deep frying everything.
