Unusual 'F' holes as well. Give's them a little more individuality.

Apart from that they sound and play real good.

Graham, you're right of course.
Trouble is, I'm semi-retired, with not a lot of money to blow. That, plus I'm already in the process of discussing the purchase of a Vantage Standard II for about 1/3 the cost.

I can see the link now. I am not semi, but fully retired and I would still buy it. This is a far better investment than the Vantage. Your collection is pretty eclectic so you could shed some, at a profit, of course.

I really only started my collection 3 years ago when I retired and have now amassed a collection of around 35 quality guitars and they have cost me a net ziltch as I have traded and built to fund my obsession. I have even put around £4,000 into the house keeping by buying and selling on my terms.

If you can steal it for £275, then all the better.

Black with gold hardware and amber knobs looks fantastic. I know, cause I had a Sheraton in that trim (which I of course sold at a profit!!)

Barry, as much as that Rainbow is a nice guitar, the Vantage is the more unusual in that I've only ever seen 4 for sale, and Kees Rietvink bought 2 of those! Besides, having seen what Dons VSH 455 looks like in person, I'm not sure I'd want a black 335....

There is a reason for it. If it was meant to be yours it would have happened. This usually means that a real gem of a bargain is going to drop onto your lap within the next couple of weeks.

I don't think that you were entirely convinced by the trans black and also the timing of its appearance, so it might just be for the best.

Anyway, good luck and keep hunting (It's an obsession for most of us!!)

I likely could not have done it justice right now anyway, and that would have been doubly frustrating! And it's not like I don't have anything else to play eh?!

Meanwhile, my old band buddy just called, and he's chomping at the bit to start gigging again...the crazy old fart!
Once he's back from a 2 week vacay in Jamaica we'll discuss. The vocal chops are rusty but probably will respond quicker than the playing. On top of the stroke and osteo-arthritis, I managed to badly bang the back of the hand and cause a massive swelling and bruising which is only now starting to subside. Looks awful, and actually hurts a bit more now than when I hit it. (sigh)

Ah well, good money well saved!

Just turn down your volume and fluff it till you get up to speed. I have to admit that I do not have either the skill or the guts to gig and I have nothing but the utmost admiration for those who do. There will be no quicker recovery route than doing it for a paying public.

Maybe easier said than done, but it does set a goal which is good.
But if it comes to pass, it won't be like the good old days...I don't have the stamina any more to go continuously for three sets, virtually all vocals; never could get the boys to just jam out a few instrumentals so I could rest up a bit.

Not taking any political stance here, but basic economic rules require the state increases the spendings in order to inject money into the economy. This in turn will allow people and companies to repay their debts and spend more multiplying the jobs and pumping up the bank accounts. Paradoxically, it works and helps move from a contracted economy to a booming one (hopefully).

Anyway, I agree with Hoax, you should gig! What about a 30 minute mellow pub thing?

Mmm...maybe. These days it takes 30 minutes just to get the blood circulating to the fingers. We used to do a good job on ballads, but we've never been known for being "mellow"!
