3d printing ? Empty 3d printing ?

Got to say I'm impressed with the potential of this. Just wondering whether it would work for replacement parts, knobs, switch tips etc. I think it's a bit expensive to get the prototypes made yet but the prices can only come down. I've got a lot of experience with CAD and am thinking it might be worth experimenting with. Anybody tried this out yet.
