Good stuff; I love seeing hand made kit like this being used to make a guitar all better again!!
What steel did you use? I think I'll use a bit of tool steel that I've got lying about.....

Good stuff.
As corsair mentions "What steel" mild steel won't be much kop unless you case harden it. Even then, ummm!
The Kahler one's seem the instant way to go.

Flat ground stock, hardened & tempered would the job but as you say Damian........

Shiny as that replacement is would stainless be a good guess? Or am I seeing camera flash there?
We utilize quite abit of 17-4 in the shop. Easy to machine, can be hardened into the upper 50 Rockwell range, and sand or bead blasting the heat treat scale off brings it back to a clean matte finish. It doesn't require a tempering or draw back cycle to ward off brittleness and maintains good toughness against stress fracturing.

I used #1 steel very hard stuff I forgot to mention I broke a couple of drill bits trying to drill it and its workin great

That is an alloy classification I am not familiar with. Is it a type of HSS? Unsulfurized M2 perhaps?

hey find an old wrench that ya dont need 5/8 or bigger I know that will work if any more break thats what I plan to use thanks guys
