Rainbow - Looking for a Rainbow!!! Empty Looking for a Rainbow!!!

Post by Carter321 Thu Jul 28, 2011 3:31 pm

All,

Currently looking for a decent Rainbow 1 with case and would rather deal with a forum member than some Ebay idiot. Willing to pay a fair price to anyone willing to sell one of these babies.

I need it to add to the collection.

Thanks

Carter

Welcome to the forum Carter, I guess this idiot's a bit too heavy, probably why it's on the second way around, link

You'll find most here will be asking to see pics of your collection, we're a bit voyeuristic like that. Very Happy

Rainbow - Looking for a Rainbow!!! Empty Rainbow

Post by Carter321 Fri Jul 29, 2011 3:55 am

Don't worry all, I'll post some pics of my collection over the weekend. The Thunder 1A has seen better days but the Super headless is sweeeeet, near mint condition + original case.

Yes the Rainbow on flee-bay right now is quite pricey. Looks in ok condition but no case. Probably only worth £300 - £330 maybe.....I've noticed Westone's going for more money as they're heading towards 30yrs old.

Pricey to us Westone collectors who love bargains, but for a well made quality guitar that plays & sounds fantastic it's worth every penny.

True, there's also the Mrs factor. She's gonna be really P***ED if I walk in the house with another banjo......Oh I want one so bad though.....

As good as any old Gibbo 335 and a lot better than some of the new one's that are being churned out.

Don't like the rounder horn type, look a bit 'Micky Mouse' or the ash grain.

Mickey Mouse? Really? I think it looks more Gibby 335, and thin horns make the rains look a bit weak. I was all about looking for a rainbow till I got the Alvarez semihollow that I posted in another thread, but If i could find a blonde rounded horn rain, I'd go for that too.

You have a great grouping in your 4 - love the maple on the one - perfect looking. Post some pics of the blonde Session if ya get the chance eh

Yes, the round horns look a bit like Mickey's ears!
Just another 335 clone. At least the later Rainbows have a bit of individuality.

I'll dig out the Session II sometime.
