Concord 1 & Thunder 1A - projects ebay UK

2 guitars from the same seller listed as projects.. not too many problems really with any of them.

Lowball bid put on the Concord. (But much higher than the £5.50 it went up to when I bid - what are these people thinking?)

There are enough issues with the Thunder 1A to put me off. I really don't want to take on anything resembling a project until I finally get around to putting my ukulele kit together.

Does the Concord have a glossy maple board? Or more matt? I really like the glossy board on my Cimar bass, and am tempted to switch allegiance from rosewood to glossy maple. Current bid is low enough that I'll be happy either way, but more info may increase the worth of the guitar to me, changing my bid.

Outbid by a fiver on the Concord. I have my next target in my sights. I was watching the concord auction in real time and could have responded, but I just didn't feel the urge.

c'mon man if you really want to own a Westone you gotta try harder than a £51 bid.....all this watching & lowball bidding you might not even like westones when you eventually get one, just take the plunge and buy one

I do wonder that you're setting yourself up for a massive kick in the slats , though, when you finally take the plunge and find that Westone aren't really the Second Coming....

Sure the hunt is OK...but sooner or later you need to be a Viking about it and kill sumpthin'!
I'm not sure I'd be spending so much time on eBay anyway. There are less costly treasures to be found privately and (one hopes) locally. And with no taxes or shipping!

Next bid will be bigger, I promise. But, I was a bit put off by the "project" keyword on the auction. I was wondering if anything would have to be done bar the minor niggles the seller described.

You have to realize that these are not new guitars and there are bound to be degrees of condition. Almost all will have something amiss if they've been played to any degree, it's unavoidable. The term "project" is a loaded one and can mean anything from "messy" to "messed up".

Still, in the end, you have to buy what you're comfortable living with. If you want a Westie in pristine condition it's gonna cost you, especially on eBay.
Otherwise, if you're prepared to either do a little work or overlook some flaws, you can get some fine instruments.

But fer Pete's sake, get one already!
