Westone Thunder 1 - 1983 - Strange Knobs!!

This looks in good condition but what on earth is going on with the knobs.. looks like the vol knob has been moved!!!!!!!!!!!!!! weird or what??
The coil tap switch looks like a replacement too

This site never ceases to amaze me! I'd just seen this one, pitched up here to ask if anyone could help with the err ... odd knob issue.

Any ideas welcome, this Thunder looks in really good nick apart from the controls looking like no other.

I have a friend who complains about knobs being anywhere near the pickups because he'll hit them while playing. Maybe this guy had that problem and decided to "fix" it?

Looks like it could have been moved for a heavy strumming player, knurled brass isn't very forgiving on the knuckles!

At least this wasn't done to the active version, "aargh, so many wires..."
