Post by Obi Wan Russell Fri Jan 16, 2009 11:18 am

Yes, I lived in Peterlee between 1970 and 1988, then moved to Southampton in search of work. When I left college (Peterlee Tertiary college) the only options were a YTS or the dole. No jobs around in Co. Durham back in 88. My Dad had been living in Southampton for ten years then so it seemed an obvious choice. I'm going to take some better pics of the guitars soon so watch this space. I have a fair sized collection now (all working for their keep!), so here's the list:

Fender 72 Reissue Stratocaster (1987 vintage) Cream body, Rosewood neck with Schaller 'Hot Rails' type pickups,- Primary stage guitar,
Westone Thunder 1 (passive) with chrome pickup covers, chrome bridge and strat style jack socket,
'Frankenstein' strat (made from spare parts) Black body, maple neck, schaller 'Hot Rails' type pickups, Backup stage guitar,
Squire Stratocaster Red Body, Maple neck, Large headstock, two Humbuckers,
Squire Stratocaster Pewter Body, Maple Neck, Small Headstock, Three single coils, (bit like eric clapton model but a lot cheaper!),
Squire Telecaster Green Body, Tiger stripe Maple neck (shades of Rossi!), standard Tele pickups,
Epiphone Les Paul Gold top
Rockwood Les Paul copy Cherry sunburst, two Seymour Duncan Pickups (P90/PAF),
H & S double neck strat (6/12 string) Black body, maple necks, tortoiseshell pickguard, three single coil pickups per neck,
Steinberger Spirit double neck (6/4string, guitar on bottom bass on top) headless, Black. Real head turner when I bring this one out at gigs!,
Westone Thunder 1 Bass (Passive), Gold body Black headstock, J Bass pickup fitted in bridge position, original P bass pickup retained, three way selector switch between V/T knobs and handle cut into upper body,
Peavy Bass Guitar. Not sure what model, Plays like a dream. Flame sunburst body, Rosewood neck, two humbuckers,
Turner 12 string acoustic electric natural finish,
Squire 6 string acoustic Metallic blue,

Coming soon: Frankenstein Strat Mk III, (Black one above is Mk II and Mk I I sold to a friend years ago. It's still going strong) Cream Body, Rosewood neck, Large headstock, three single coil pickups. Bit like 72 reissue but with standard fender electrics. Just waiting for the body to be sprayed... All parts found on Fleabay over the last year. Neck is a fender Custom shop, body is a squire with scratch in paintwork (hence re spray), pickups and scratch plate standard squire..

amps:
Marshall Mode Four 350 Watt four channel head,
Marshall 1960A 4x12 cab,
Marshall 1922 2x12 cab,
Marshall 1x15 Bass cab,
Marshall G100RCD 100 Watt two channel Head,
Marshall 12 Watt practice amp,
Boss ME 50 Multi Effects Unit,
De Armmond Volume pedal

And you'd be amazed how much of this I can squeeze into the back of my Ford Mondeo estate! lol!

Hello....my name is Gary. I am 38 and been playing guitar since I was about 16 or so. I only have 1 Westone right now but plan to have more in the future! I am a huge fan of Charvel and Kramer guitars but I bought my first Westone in the late 90's. Always like the way it played so I held onto it for all these years. Glad to be here though!!!

Good to see you, bro - that's a lovely guitar to BTW - I have 2 Clippers in the same shade; originally Sky Blue but now more of a teal... welcome to the gang; we've probably pushed the prices of the Westones up in the time we've been here but you can still find 'em for a reasonable price if you're patient... I am not really in a position right now to buy anymore guitars AND stay married. I have been laid off for about 3 months now and bought a vintage Kramer a few months back and recently traded some stuff for another vintage Kramer and the Westone Dana. So I better lay low and stay off the wife's radar for a bit if you know what I mean. But unless I find a really smoking deal somewhere, my next Westone is going to be a Pantera model.....I hope so anyways!

HA!! Welcome to my world; there's a nice Spectrum FX on NZ's Trademe at the moment and to say I'm tempted is an understatement but, like you, if I want the wife to stick around I'd better pull my head in!! Laughing But, boy - I want it badly; it's not on the list of 'spouse-approved' guitars, though so I've sort of burned my bridges there!! I'm allowed a Vantage VA912, Vantage AV310, Vantage Invader, Westone Spectrum X120 or one of the coloured fretboard Spectrums: the MX or SX. These were negotiated long ago.... Wink

Some might know me from other "guitar-related" forums, ICW especially. Although I've been visiting Westone Forum ev'ry now and then I have not registered here until now..
So, here's the "critical info" ...

I'm from Southern part of Finland, former guitar tech of "few unknown bands" and once worked for finnish distributor of one major USA brand .. pre-sales fixing & repairing guitars and basses.
I've had Japanese guitars from 1979, including Westones and several other brands as well, my first "japanaxe" was, however, 2618-12 model Ibby Artist. Rolling Eyes
I don't know much 'bout Westones, but I'm hopin' to find info here, and if I can help someone here I'd be a very happy little fox.. So, if you'd ever need info 'bout, let's say, Jap Vantages, or vintage Ibbies, especially Artists, feel free to ask!
What comes to the guitars hangin' on the foxhole's walls, currently there is only one Westone, Prestige 150.. (I prefer maple-capped mahogany bodied 2-humbucker guitars.. Very Happy )
Warm greetings from quite chilly Finland!

For the warm welcome..
Loony bin.. *grin*.. let's see, I bet that this is no loonier than ICW..
Corsair, I happen to have VA 900 also, non-modded with a little bit noisy preamp.. very versatile guitar with brass sustainblock. For 12-string one you'd have to track and hunt down VA 912, which is a twelve string version of your guit. It sure is a very rare bird, here in Europe anyway. As I told, I have had a 12-string solidbody from 1979 or so, if you don't care 'bout extra effort in tuning, it is very nice sounding beast. "Skinny McGuinny" anyone? Smile
IMO, Vantages as well as Westones are definitely "sleepers" in the vintage market. Seems like Uncle Matt's axes have avoided the market hype that boosted Hoshino's main axe right from the beginning of 2000..

Hi there Fox,

Welcome to the font of all Westone knowledge ! Good to see that you are a vantage man ... by the way, Polly has a Quest Atak bass, all of which adds to the richness of the forum !

For myself, I have Thunders 1a and 2a, A dimension 4, and a Genesis II, as well as other assorted highly strung animals ! Ask away if you need some help.

Actually, I was just going through my old record collection the other night and found a disc from a jazz / fusion guitarist from your way called Janne Schaffer. Is he still around?

Keep posting

Say hello... - Page 4 Empty Long time No see!

Post by toxbass Sat Mar 07, 2009 3:50 am

Hello,

I turn my back for 2 years and when I look around you aren't there. No link on the Westone site and my moniker gone! (Whaddya mean lazy? Me? Nah.... Sleep )

I thought I'd pop and see if anyone else thought those current ebay sales don't quite ring true. Looks like I'm not the only one! The bass might have some cred. but the Thunder 2..not sure at all.

Anyway I'm Pete, drummer for 30 years (Rogers USA), now blues harp (Lee Oskars) and bass. Can't stand rehearsing, band politics or prima donna's (and I've met some real blinders). Musical tastes are pretty varied but I only seem to understand something years after it's gone out of fashion. Blues/boogie is my first love but still have a secret yearning for 70's glam stuff and the Quo will always, always hold that special place in my rock 'n' roll heart. Loved punk too. Settled on RnB for most of the drumming years. Now clowning around with a bunch of oldies in The Faces mould.

Westone History - before I was musician I used to sit at the back wondering how the hell Gorilla Ron could play the 4 string thing when he could hardly tie his one string shoe lace. So I used to go regularly to the local music shop where they tried to sell me a Westone. All I ended up with were catalogues (84 price list on the site is mine) and an unrequited love of these great instruments. Along comes ebay, a son who wants to play bass, a chance bid on a Thunder 1a. He gave up, the band need a bassist, and I worked out that Gorilla Ron was having us on all those years ago!

And now I have a little collection that I cherish. Do a bit of refurb. And still use the 1A for gigging. Only go for "Bird" logo models and then primarily from the 83/84 catalogues. With the odd exception.

The family includes;

Basses-

Thunder 1A ( 83 black) - tatty, well used, solid and reliable, just keeps on keeping on. Main live choice.
Concord 1 (84 black) - mint condition and an absolute steal. Must have been put away soon after it was bought.
Spectrum DX (86 red) - beautiful, probably better sound than the 1A. Trouble is it doesn't gig-fit comfortably for a short-*rse like me!
Thunder 1 (84 wood) - complete refurb, lovely sound now after set-up. Re-finish by furniture maker mate. But obviously not authentic. Just takes the edge off it for me.
A late model Thunder 1 - in bits, no serial number, poorly finished. Can't decide what to do with it. Its build quality compared with earlier versions is shocking.

Guitars-

Rainbow 1- (84 blond) love this, absolutely love it!
Thunder 2- (83 blue) great nick, hardly any wear, no corrosion. Speculative ebay bid, got it for no money (a better photo would have seen the price rocket!)
Concord -2-T (83 black) set up for slide and a great sound.

Who the hell is Gorilla Ron? Shocked

And you notice that Westone.info has dropped this forum from his links, Polly?! :?: Surprised

Ah, Gorilla Ron was a bass player in a band I was in the eighties. Great bloke. I just couldn't figure out how I could only play the drums (I'd bought into the all drummers are dim theory) and he was a guitar god. Years later I worked out that it wasn't as difficult as I'd thought.

Post by hendrik Tue Mar 17, 2009 4:53 pm

Hello to all Westone fan's,

I became one last year, 2008.

Name: Hendrik

Age: 43

Nationality: German

Living in beautiful Switzerland

Started playing guitar again after twenty years after recovering from a serious illness.

On a flea market I found my WESTONE CONCORD III.
One Pickup broken, guitar dirty and smelling like....
But just 80 CHF.
So I bought the guitar with the idea to use it for rebuilding it.
New Pickups etc...

But then after the cleaning and doing some research on the net I decided differently.
Now the Concord is in perfect conditions and sounds just brilliant.
Started me looking for some other Westones, so far a Spectrum SP6112 I found.

Other guitars, Fender Telecaster, Hagström XL5 and for travelling a Hohner GT3.

Well guess I never posted and introduced myself here. My name is Gary, I am 38 and have been playing guitar since around age 16. I've had many guitars over the years, mainly Jackson, Charvel, Kramer, a few ESP and Fenders. I bought my first Westone around 1989 or so, it's not one of the vintage types you guys have but nonetheless its a sweet player. Even with the weak pups which I need to switch out. Right now I am really only playing and collecting vintage Kramer guitars. Something about them always draws me back to them. Not playing in any bands right now. I love tweaking/modding/refinishing guitars! Have about 4 other project guitars right now including a Westone Dana Limited that I just acquired today! Smile And in the not too distant future I will be building a copy of a vintage Peavey Vandenberg out of mahogany. I am married with a 9 year old daughter that is my world! Glad to be here! And that's my story! Smile

Hello Gary and a great big 'official' Welcome from me! Very Happy

I know that you've been around for a while now but it's always nice when someone introduces themselves in here as well. I think that it makes everyone seem less anonymous and creates a much friendlier atmosphere.

What more can I say? You know the drill by now... get some piccies up! (That's if you haven't already done so).
Sorry if I'm asking you to do something that you might already have done, but it's hard to keep track of everybody who has posted photos, without actually trawling through each and every thread/post.

Thanks dude! I gotta work nights this weekend so I wont be able to do much. I will take some pics of the Dana body and post them. I kinda stopped working on it this weekend. Because I have a '89 Fender HM body I am refinishing. I just got it in primer and will have it painted next week. Then its being traded off to a friend for an Ibanez body, a Jackson neck and a few other things. I got some random parts laying around, gonna build a few mutts from them. Also got a MINT BRAND NEW Floyd Rose Discovery body. Not sure what I am gonna do with it yet. Guy I got it off of took the neck, electronics, tremolo and everything and gave me the body. He bought it brand new and done this. Said he is gonna make a "travel guitar body" and use all the parts off this body! How insane is that I thought.

Say hello... - Page 4 Empty Hi

Post by Trevor Tue Mar 31, 2009 6:04 am

Hi everyone my name is Trevor, I am Male, 46 years new & Australian.
I have recently become the proud owner of a Red 86 Spectrum SX.
Condition is reasonably good with just a few chips around the strap areas.
It has the bendmaster deluxe Trem.
One volume & one tone.
One knob is broken & the trem bar missing.
The nut has sadly been replaced with a generic locking version & is probably the biggest down fall of the guitar.
Minor fret ware & the centre pickup seems to be not working.
Volume pot also seems a bit dicky.
Only received the guitar today so early days yet.
I am a carpenter/builder by trade with a keen interest in electronics, cars, computers & of course guitars.
I dont play anymore because frankly I was never much good, however I have 2 teenage sons who both play a variety of instruments quite well. So I guess I have been relagated to being their guitar tech.
I plan to fully restore the guitar, as I seem to have a slight problem with obsessivly restoring everything I come across in life, in particular, houses, cars , surfboards & guitars.
Cheers, I'll keep you all informed on my progress.

Hello Trevor and Welcome! Smile

It's nice to see that you are hoping to bring your guitar back to life. I used to have an identical red Spectrum SX too and I can promise you that once you get it up and running again, you won't be disappointed, they are really nice guitars to play. I'm sure it might even encourage you to take up playing again.

Keep us posted on how the restoration goes and don't forget to put up lots of photos of the progress. Incidentally, I have moved your current photos to the 'Members Westones' forum.

Post by grogg Wed Apr 08, 2009 3:47 pm

Posted a few times so thought Id better introduce myself. Name is Greg and knocking on (49). Instrumentally started with the violin at age of 8. In teens got persuaded to pick up the bass guitar by some mates and played in a whole series of bands, was about 14 or 15 years old when I first gigged in a rock band. Picked up the 6 string in late teens to fill in with a makeshift setup.
Someone else mentioned it but really got fed up with the prima donnas and stopped playing in bands in my early 20s. Following that I got arthritic fingers which was a playing killer but thankfully that settled after a few years.

Anyway, waffle isnt my forte, first bass was of unknown make but I had it for 30 years ish, when the truss rod went and the buzzing became unbearable I ripped the frets off and played fretless.. Gave it to my niece a couple of years ago.

Since my fingers got better have been plonking away in a meaningless fashion. Did have 7 guitars, mostly poop, 2 years ago whittled that down to 2 decent ones and have now gone back up to 5! Im a recent discoverer of Westone, 2 of my 5 are Westone, both Thunder 1s (6 and 4 string).

As you may see from this I have never owned a really decent guitar.

Post by anaerobe Thu May 07, 2009 12:09 pm

Hello!

Time to introduce myself. Name's Ian - 48 - living in Winnipeg, Canada. I work in basic sciences and do more work (fun work mind you) raising 2 children.

Likes: Helping my kids through their music, and sports. They'll break you (financially) but their fun.
Dislikes: Checking my watch, thinking about my retirement. Perhaps I'll skip that part.

First guitar: 1974 Yamaha SG35 (yes, I'm a recovering Yamaholic)

Most recent guitar: Westone Spectrum DX

Guitars in family:

1974 Yamaha SG35, grover tuners, SD '59 at the neck and SD pearly gates bridge pickup
1978 Onyx (Yamaki built ?? - not confirmed by anyone) "Japanese Wing" style neck through body, dual rail humbuckers
1986 Vantage Avenger ("The Mule" - possible transition model) - TV yellow, gotoh tuners
1986 Westone x70 (check out members Westones), single coil plus humbucker config, natural finish, body truss rod adjust, maple neck.
NEW - 1985 Westone Spectrum DX, locking nut, bendmaster, snow white, body truss rod adjust, purple rosewood fretboard.
1974 Epiphone FT-130 (Matsumoku)
2008 Gibson LP standard, '60 neck, honey burst
1993 Takemine acoustic (Western)
1969-ish Yamaha acoustic (classical)

Past guitars include ESP viper, a couple of late model Samicks, Ovation 12, etc..

Music: A wide bunch of stuff. My favourite guitar - oriented rock/alt/metal/Blues etc. includes Foo Fighters, The Who, Frank Zappa (unusual lyrics aside there lurked some awesomely sophisticated music from jazz to surf to acid rock and undefinable glorious bits among that - R.I.P. Frank), Wes Montgomery, small pieces of Ted Nugent (got to be careful with that), Dream Theatre, Kinks, Rush, some selected VH, Beatles, Lennon, McCartney, Harrison early solo stuff, Pink Floyd (only for David Gilmour's solos, he's a pretty crazy diamond himself) then over to RJ Burnside ("its bad you know"), SR Vaughn, Elmore James, Albert King, Johnny Ramone (all three chords, dude) Django Reinhardt, T-bone Walker, J. Hendrix, back to the Strokes, Gary Numan, INXS, Sloan, Weezer, some of the Texas shuffle stuff (Bill Gibbons, Shawn Lane, Berry Oakley).

See the Westone x70 here:

http://forum.westoneguitars.net/members-westones-f6/x-70-joins-the-collection-now-tear-down-pics-t494.htm#3731

See the Westone Spectrum DX here:

http://forum.westoneguitars.net/members-westones-f6/my-second-westone-white-85-spectrum-dx-t541.htm

Favourite guitar: Bone-stock 1985 Spectrum DX - One of the best guitars I've ever played. Flip it over and I think even Jimi would play it.

Daily driver - 1996 Chevy Caprice 9c1 aka "Orca Boy"
Coolest vehicle - 1950 Ford F1 half-ton - implanted 7.4 litre Olds V8, thm 400 trans, Sanderson headers, 2.56 posi (see the avatar)

Sports - Competitive swimming (many moons ago), distance running to stave off obesity

Very good site, this. Nice folks.

Great story and very comprehensive guitar family. Always liked the Yamaha SG range, especially the one known as the the Flying Samurai. It was the era when the Japanese started to breakaway from straight copying to develop innovative designs.

Hello all, my name is Joe or Kebabage, whatever you like!
I'm 19, from the midlands (UK) and have been playing guitar 5 years now, my fave bands are Dinosaur Jr and Pearl Jam.
My guitars are as follows:
Westone Thunder Jet (this was bought TODAY! Absolutely mint, the guitar was very well looked after, but was sold to a pawn shop and then me, all original)
Fender Jazzmaster '62 Reissue (I bought this late last year and adore it, its sunburst with tort pickguard)
Wolf Les Paul (My 2nd guitar I ever bought, after a cheap encore strat. Its a very nice looking LP and not very common, though top notch)
Westone Thunder Jet Bass (I picked this one up cheap at a car boot, it wasnt looked after too well but plays nice)
Tanglewood TW 704 acoustic (Again, this one was picked up at a car boot but I'm not too keen on it)

My brother has a great collection of these guitars:
Westone Spectrum DX (Quite hard to come by, a great guitar though pretty used, black)
Westone Clipper (Not entirely sure which version, but its beautiful and white)
Westone Concorde Bass (Sadly this one has no headstock decal, but the serial ends in 666! Twisted Evil)

I'll get a picture of the 5 Westones together eventually! I'm also a member at the Offset Guitars Forum

Hello Joe and Welcome! Smile

Aw, I've got another 'bairn' in the family!
Laughing I'm not going to call you 'Kebabage' if you don't mind, I much prefer Joe because my own son is called Joe too!

Wow!
Shocked Well done on your acquisition - why can't I ever find anything like that?

Your brothers' collection sounds sweet too... please, please find out if his Clipper is the Clipper Six model, and if he wants to part with it? They are my favourite Westones' and I would give my eye teeth to have another one!

I'm now assuming here that you know what you have to do next... put some photos up in the Members Westones forum!

Hello Pauline, I had a suspicion you may reply to my post, as you seem to be a very active member here! Very Happy
Sadly, the Clipper looks to be a CL4112, I wish you good luck on getting another Clipper Six, they must be as common as rocking horse dropping!

I'm currently in love with my Thunder Jet family! The guitar has seriously hot pickups, it can hold a note almost infinately! It hasn't got the nicest clean sound, but thats what the Jazzmaster is for! Razz

I'll get a Westone family pic up sometime tomorrow or the day after, as I am camera-less tonight!

Post by DuoFuzz Tue May 19, 2009 8:57 am

Since I've put some posts up about my Thunder 1 I thought I should introduce myself to the site properly.

My name Dan, Im 31 and I currently living in the terminally dull council estate hell that is Longbenton, on the outskirts of Newcastle Upon Tyne in the UK. I've been trying to play guitar since I was 9, and got my love of guitars and music from my dad. He used to play me and my brother Steve, his collection of old blues, rock and country LP's constantly, encouraging to play along on his old Avon Les Paul copy.

I have never played in a band or professionally, just for my own enjoyment and for the hell of it! I have taught myself to maintain my own guitars over the years and modify them when the mood takes me. I have to confess at this point that I'm a hoarder and a bit of a Womble! I like buying cheap secondhand guitars and fixing them up when I'm able to, but I can't seem let go of them when they are done Rolling Eyes , I think you can see where this is heading!

I now have 24 guitars in my personal collection!!! Shocked Shocked Shocked I know, I know, I need help (and the GAS anonymous helpline!). It doesn't stop either, between me, my brother and my dads guitars we inherited, that's 51 guitars!!! (and counting). I wont bore you with the full list that has the usual Squiers and Epiphones, but some of the one's that may interest members here include:

My two Thunder 1's.
A 1980 Aria Pro II CS 250 (uncle mat era).
An '86 Ibanez Roadstar II RS 135.
An early 80's Hondo "Fender Lead II" copy.
A big Hondo Jazzer
Satellite Les Paul copy.
Avon Les Paul copy.
And last but not least, a an odd but cool Jedson Tele type thing!?! Suspect .

I also have a vast collection of FX pedals mostly plundered from EvilBay. This now totals 100+ but recent job loss has put pay that fun.

So There you go, my hobby, and the only thing that keeps me sane (for now).

Am I having fun...yes, has it got out of hand...yes, and do I care....NO Twisted Evil !

Woo Hoo Dan, Smile

You've got it bad mate!
Rolling Eyes

I think you will need some strict counseling from 'Aunty Polly' here.
Wink

I might just have to persuade you to let me come and have a look at this addiction of yours and maybe find some way to relieve you of some of the enormous pressure that this hoard is obviously putting on you. It's for your own good (and mine) that you give up these nasty addictions immediately! Laughing

They're mine all mine, Ah ha ha ha. Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

No seriously, I couldn't bring myself to part any of them, I like them to much. It's feels good to now that you've fixed or saved something that would otherwise be ruined by people who really shouldn't be allowed lovely shiny guitars.

Same goes with the pedals, you can spend 30 quid on one fully knowing that it's worth more. Some of mine are investments, the pedal scene is crazy right now. So one day I might cash some in, you never know. One thing is for sure, if I get buried with them it's going to be a bloody big hole! Laughing Laughing Laughing

Say hello... - Page 4 Empty New on the block-hello

Post by north-west-one Tue May 19, 2009 4:50 pm

I have been reading postings on this site now for a few weeks and decided to take the plunge. Before I introduce my self I would like to say hello to all contributers around the world who share a passion for these guitars. From Australia to New Zealand, USA, Europe and of course the UK it would seem that the Westone guitar has captured the imagination, desire, affection and also the cash in our wallets!!!
My name is Fraser and with a name like that I could only come from Scotland. I have been playing guitar since the mid 70's and although as a teenager played in some bands I have been an at home player for most of my playing life. My first real guitar was an Ibanez Musician MC300 which I purchased in Glasgow in 1978 and still have to this day. Many years past and it was not untill my son Tom (15) decided that he was going to be a "Guitar God" that I turned my attention back to guitars. His first guitar was a Dean Baby Z which although not brilliant kept him away from my prized Ibanez. (Sticky fingers etc, etc.). It was with his first part time job wage that he decided to purchase a better "Axe" and with him still using my Ibanez "on the fly" I talked him in to buying a pre-owned Ibanez Musician MC 300 Limited Edition 1978 from Guitar Guitar in Glasgow. This was a significant purchase as not only was this guitar limited to 150 being built in the world but it was only sold in Germany. (Internet research after the event) Lucky boy indeed. More significantly was that this got me thinking about starting a guitar collection and my introduction to the Westone brand.
Having initally thought about how to go about this and which name/brand to go for I decided that a Fender or two would be a good starting point. I had always wanted a Stratocaster but felt that they were too common and not unique enough. That was untill the Stratocaster VG was launched in 2007. This I felt would be a good investment guitar and luckily after two years they have stoped production so my boy will hopefully inherit a guitar that will be quite rare in the future. I also added a Telecaster Deluxe to the stable which I picked up in the States before the pound droped like a stone.
I came accross the Westone site by accident and after reading a few reviews I thought that this might be the way to go. E-bay came to the rescue and also the free to advertise Gumtree web site. I now have six Westones and a quite rare Ibanez Ghostrider 520 from 1993 thanks to E-bay/Gumtree.
Now to cut to the chaise, the Westones are:
Paduak 1-1981-Nov.
Thunder 2-1981-Jul
Thunder 1a-1982-Oct
Concord 2-1983-Sept
Spectrum LX-1985-July
Spectrum MX-1985-Nov
All are in good condition with only a new jack socket required on the Spectrum LX (the guitar only cost me £40) and a whammy bar.
All are also unique in their sound and feel which is great. The Concord is on par with my Stratocaster and it cost a fraction of the price and is 24 years older!!!! That must say some thing about the quality of these guitars.
Anyway enough of my ramblings. Hope you have enjoyed my story as much as I have enjoyed yours.
Untill the next time,
Fraser.

Hiya, Fraser - welcome to the nuthouse! Nice back story, too but I've gotta say, you're being a bit of a tease here, eh - we live to look at other people's guitars so please put 'em up for us to look at!
I had an Ibanez 2380 in about 1978 which lasted all of about 3 days; god it was awful so I went back to my telecaster which I used as a trade for my Vantage and I've never looked back, ie never owned anything but Matsumoku guitars with the exception being my old lap steel and a Strat which has been made into a proper guitar!! Laughing
Westones in particular, and Matsumoku in general, are a great instrument and I suppose that even though a lot of 'em are now being bought as investments, at least they're being treasured by their new owners. All of mine have at some stage been sweated on and abused onstage at some point and they do seem to thrive on the experience!!
Look forward to seeing your beauties, my friend and chatting some more...

Hi there Fraser and Welcome!

I'm based down here in the Midlands but quite often look at Gumtree Glasgow on line. There was a couple of £50 Westones on there recently (a Spectrum and a Thunder in think) which you probably bought !

Nice to see that you an early Thunder 2. Brilliant guitar ! Well nice collection all round. I know Polly will have personal accident when she sees that you have a Paduak.

Lets see some pics eh !

What about the Danas - there's precious few of those in here, and has anyone apart from David even actually seen a Monark?! There's plenty out there to find, eh, kiddies!!!
